I am a terrible friend. I had arranged to have a photo shoot with my friend Alina when she had a brand new little babe in arms to photograph. But as those of us with subsequent children can attest, the idea of a milk-soaked, pillow-filled, dreamy day-night period of getting to know your new person can fall swiftly to the wayside as life with the rest of the family takes over. In this case my friend who doesn’t think of herself as an overachiever (*ahem*) had organised a trip to Japan, moving house, major renovations, then moving back again before I had a chance to catch up properly. And when you’re a photographer you know that it’s not a proper catch-up until the big camera comes out.
And hey, look. I know I’m biased. I know I am going to think that this child is the most adorable little thing ever. But the reality is that she IS! Months ago we popped out for a walk and a cafe lunch and that little ball of smiley baby was remarked upon…nay, stopped, for comments and coos of delight. She engages all she sees. And no-one less than her delicious brother is right at the front of the queue ready to revel in her delicious giggle and love. I am a little in love with this family, and am thrilled I was finally able to mix friends with work.
It has been a busy year this year; not that you’d know it of course, since I have barely blogged. Over the course of the next few weeks I will endeavour to update with a few more posts. But then 2014 will be a hiatus year for me as I return to study. I will be taking on repeat clients and the odd word-of-mouth sessions, but I will essentially be head down in textbooks. Feel free to contact me for potential bookings, but I will direct you to photographer friends in the area if I am unable to book you in.
In the meantime, enjoy this session. I sure did.
